Picture Perfect

This is my profile pose

This is my "getting-ready-to-greet-oncoming-doggie" pose

This is my "I'm a grown-up doggie" pose

Say Cheese
My person is preparing for my first birthday which is fast approaching. She wants a few photos of me as a grown-up dog - no more cutsie puppy photos. So yesterday I was doing my best to look as good as I could.

Woodland Friends

They call him Onslow because he wears a white tee-shirt

Onslow finds it difficult to keep his paws to himself

Bjørn loves to play stick-tag

Onslow and other dog buddies
Today I met a new friend, Onslow, an over-enthusiastic boxer who was just a little too happy to see me . I also saw my good friend, Bjørn, (bear) the flat-coated retriever. Now there's a real gentleman. He minds his manners and is fun to play with.

Break Out

Tiger says, "Just follow me..."

Don' t tell anyone this but Tiger knows where all the holes in the fence are

Don't fence me in
Yesterday was an exciting day for all of us in my dog pack. When the weather is nice my person sometimes leaves the back door open so both Tiger and I can come and go as we please. I enjoy my yard even though it's fenced in so I can't run away - though why would I want to do that? I like it here. But yesterday was different. Somehow I found myself on the other side of the fence in the street! My neighbor happened to be biking passed and he stopped to escort me to the front door of my house. He knocked, my person opened the door, and I strolled in. My person was very surprised to see me at the front door!

Doin' the Dog Paddle

As far as I know, there are no crocs or rhinos in this water hole

You say I'm dirty?

I'm thinking about joining the Viking Club-they hop in all year long

Looking calm and serene on the surface...
I mentioned in my last post that I have webbed feet. Well, they come in handy. We have a mud, uh, I mean water hole nearby and that's where I like to jump in and practice my dog paddle. But the water is kind of muddy so after my dip in the hole we head for the ocean where I can rinse off.

Pensive Puppy

Waterproof
I've been thinking... labs and ducks have a lot in common. We both like water, we both have webbed feet and we both repel water. Raindrops just bead-up and roll off my back like water off a duck's back. Even so, I still have to lay in my doggie basket for a few minutes to dry off after returning from a rainy walk in the woods.

Tiger Tales

This is a rare outdoor photo of Tiger on the prowl as he descends from the roof of the neighbor's garage

Here he wonders if the lawn might need some fertilizer

On days like these, both Tiger and I can be found sleeping inside

Here he comtemplates the complexities of the Rubic's cube

Elusive Kitty
Many of my faithful Maggie Speaks readers have asked that I spend more time talking about Tiger, the newest addition to my doggie pack. As I am cat-friendly, I don't mind doing so. But let's all remember - this is a dogblog. And this site is dedicated to me - and all my doggie cuteness.

But, to be quite honest, I don't get much face time with Tiger. When I see him he is usually in a big hurry - he trots quickly passed me, his bushy tail held high as if he's on his way to an important meeting. Or he's curled up on my bed catching zzzzs. Sometimes we meet nose-to-nose when I'm on my way out to the backyard and he's on his way in. He seems to be very busy - with what I don't know.

Birthday Party-Hearty

It was a wild party...

There were guests who enjoyed a little lap-time

And, while some of us wrestled under the table

Others conversed around the table

Some of the guests played with my toys

And others played with my persons' toys

Serious Partying
I have a hang-over. Last night we celebrated my persons' birthday with cousins, friends, and family. It was a party where the action took place on, around and under the table. My cousins Tacy and Emma were there, too, which added to the fun. It's early to bed for me today.

Hangin' Out

No piggy ears for these folks

Tacy and I are best buds...

We share secrets...

And have a great time whenever we meet.

Cousins are cool
Yesterday I spent the afternoon with one of my favorite cousins, Tacy. We had a great time. We ate piggy ears, played, and went for a long walk. My person had a good time with his cousin, too. All in all a good day for doggies and people, too.

On Safari - in Denmark

We have breathtaking scenery, too...

And wild cats...

All kinds of creatures -- big and small

I keep a safe distance from the dangerous ones

And can get up close and personal with the friendly ones

The road less travelled
Some travel far and wide to see animals big and small. I just have to walk out my front door! Walk time -- it's the best. I think I like my walks better than dinner time! And, now that it's spring, they are even more exciting. There is so much to see and sniff.

Spring has Sprung

The frost and snow are gone. Bring on the flowers.

My "condition" prohibits me from playing with anyone right now.

Birds and Bees
Spring has finally arrived in my neck-of-the-woods. And, it's about time. The only problem is I am not allowed to run free until late next week. It's not fun. I can't play with my doggie buddies, especially the boy doggies, and I am kept on a leash at all times when we're out walking. I am even under observation during outings in the backyard. I feel like a princess trapped in her castle.

Happy Birthday!

I like birthday parties.

Tiger missed out on the festivities. He took a nap instead.

Twelve Big Ones
Today my person turned 12 years old. That's 84 in dog years. He doesn't look that old.

Peaceful Coexistence

Hey, wait a minute...who invited you up here?

Or, why can't we all just get along?
I don't understand kitties. It seems the more you give them the more they want. Tiger is allowed up on the big bed - the comfiest place in the whole house. But that no longer seems to be good enough. Yesterday he curled up for a nap in my doggie bed. I had to sleep on the floor. And this morning I found him in my spot on my person's bed. What's a doggie to do?

Kitty Konflicts

I'm taking good care of Tiger

He doesn't look like he's hurting to me

Poor Tiger?
My new friend, Tiger, had to go to the pet doctor. He was bitten on the back of his neck by another kitty-bully in the neighborhood during his first outing. I never see other kitties when I'm out and about on my walks, but then again, I am mostly looking for doggies to play with.

Tiger is doing fine and spends his time relaxing on his bed and munching on shrimp-wrapped penicillin tablets. But he's grounded for the next 3-5 days until his sore heals. So no midnight outings.

Where's Tiger?

On the move
This kitty is hard to keep track of. He's quick and quiet and he hides from me. He sleeps all day and then likes to come out at night when I'm all tucked in. He was let outside for the first time and disappeared for 24 hours. And then suddenly there he was - ready for a few bites of shrimp.

Getting to Know Him

He thinks he owns the place

If only I could get just a little bit closer

Why can't we be friends?
Today we met nose-to-nose. He was coming around the corner and I was on my way into the bedroom to check him out. Polite? Maybe. Friendly? No. We sniffed each others noses and then he turned around and ran away under his bed. But it wasn't long before he came out again and hopped up on his spot on the bed where he can look out and keep an eye on me. I sit in the doorway and keep an eye on him. Sometimes I get closer and then he growls at me. My person gave me a soup bone today to help me keep my mind off that furry thing.

They Call Him Tiger

They say he's an eight-year-old half Norwegian forest cat.

One thing's for sure... he knows how to make himself feel at home

And he's moved right in
It's a c-a-t. For the moment he lives in the back bedroom. First he hid under the bed, only appearing when they whiffed shrimp in front of his nose. Now he's moved up onto the bed -smack- dab in the middle! And, he's been here less than 48 hours! I've never been allowed on that bed. I've been in a few times to say hello but all I get is a hiss or two. What I'd really like to do is to get a hold of that long, bushy tail that he whips back and forth when I'm around. But he's very well protected. What's a doggie to do?

Somethin's Fishy

Fish Fingers
Something is going on around here. All of my persons' fingers smell like shrimp! And they keep going in and out of the living room and back and forth to the back bedroom, and for some reason, I am not allowed to go with them. And there is another new smell in the house that I don't recognize ... and it's not fish and it's not bird. Hmmmm.....

Bright Ideas

Here's what it's all about - a dead duck. Doggies must retrieve the poor duck without bite marks or messing up the feathers

Here's a doggie waiting for the gun shot and the signal to fetch the bird

Here's a doggie who is being told that there are more birds to find out there

And this doggie found another bird and retrieves it to her person's hand

Still a family dog
My person has gone crazy. She spent her Sunday at retriever field trials nearby. I don't know what she's thinking but I am not sure we are on the same page. I mean, I am just a family dog and those other doggies...well they have to work for their doggie treats. Take a look at the photos and you'll get an idea of what I mean. And, with all this bird flu all over the place, I'm not sure I want any part of those birdies.

Lap Dog

The place to be
This is where I like to spend my time when I'm not out walking, eating, playing in my yard, chewing on a pig's ear or sleeping in my dog nest. As you can see, I am growing up and can now call myself extra-large when it comes to lap-sitting.
